Duality, baby!

This blog post signifies Embracing Gemini’s one-year anniversary/birthday, thank you for being here to celebrate with me. I appreciate every single person who has taken the time to read or listen to any of my blog posts, you have no idea how special that is to me and how deeply grateful I am for you. I’m excited to see what we can create in the years to come

For those of you who don’t yet know, the name “Embracing Gemini” represents embracing duality, hence why I tend to say that this blog is about exploring mental health and embracing all sides of life because for me the way the Gemini star sign is explained feels like an accurate description of life

Two extremes living cohesively as one,
Yin and Yang,
Duality

When we speak about mental health people tend to think more of their “bad” days rather than their “good” days, but it’s actually about both, it’s about all of it. It’s about checking in with yourself, being aware of how you’re feeling and choosing how you want to respond to that

Humans love to label things as “good” and “bad” or “right” and “wrong,” but it’s up to you to decide whether those viewpoints are healthy for you and your mindset. All emotions are human nature, every single one of them has a purpose, it’s how you respond to them and express them that matters. When you feel emotions rising up, notice them, listen to what they are trying to tell you and with intention, decide how to release them in an effective and healthy way

If we live our lives always expecting happiness and nothing else, we will be greatly disappointed when we experience any other emotion, learning to accept and embrace all emotions will allow us to remain open to what life has to offer and to experience the beautiful magic hidden in complete self-expression. There is something so deeply cleansing about having a damn good cry, which can only be experienced if we’re not shaming ourselves for crying in the first place

It’s time to unlearn all the nonsense we’ve been taught about “boys don’t cry” and “anger isn’t acceptable” that’s all complete bullshit. You are perfect, regardless of the emotions you feel, actually scratch that, you are perfect because of the emotions you feel, they are what make you human, they are how you know you are alive

A few weeks ago, I was listening to Jay Shetty’s podcast where he interviewed Lili Reinhart and she said the most profound thing that I think perfectly explains the meaning of “embracing all sides of life”

Lili explained that she likes to imagine herself as a celestial being or a form of energy and that the universe asks her “hey do you want to go to earth for an incredibly short amount of time and experience every emotion that you could possibly feel as a human? You get to experience love, heartache, anxiety, joy, euphoria… all of it, do you want to do that?” and she knows for certain that she absolutely does. She goes on to say that she uses this conversation as a reminder to herself that although sometimes human emotions can be uncomfortable to feel, it’s also quite beautiful that we have the capacity to experience them so deeply

I highly recommend everyone goes and listens to the entire interview because she does such a beautiful job of sharing the exact messages that Embracing Gemini was created for. Our emotions are a gift, we often don’t recognise the magic in expressing them until after the moment has passed but once we do, it simply is so special

There may be extreme polarity in this world but that doesn’t mean we can’t integrate those differences and create a more beautiful and fulfilling life for ourselves. We are multi-faceted beings, who are powerful beyond measure, we should feel empowered and proud of that fact, not ashamed of it

There is no right or wrong way to experience life, but we can always experience more of it, all we have to do is be open to doing so and embrace it
